Un-believe-a-bull!

So many times I have read how starting out you need to remain focussed on the job at hand. I went and bought a whiteboard so that I can write out what I have to do to get the job done.

There I was Saturday morning, on the whiteboard, “Watch Find A Niche Video”, Research as per the videos, pick a Niche, Buy Domain, Build Website”

So I go to the video course on my PC and access the Find a Niche vids. So far so good…

I watch them all, there’s four of them.

So I start researching as per the videos, so far so good.

One of the things they do is to check out the Dummies Website to see what books they are selling. They focus on three “Evergreen” markets. Health, Wealth and Happiness. There I am trawling through the Health section at the Dummies Website and I come across a book on dealing with Chronic Pain.

My wife Trish suffers from Chronic Pain Syndrome. Here’s the conversation,

Me: “Hey Trish, there’s a book at the Dummies Website dealing with Chronic Pain.”

Trish: “Great can you send me the link…”

Me: “No worries, it’s on it’s way!”

So I copy the link. I open Outlook Express and create a new message and send it to Trishs’ email.

I notice that the folder I have set up for my mate Ron, the public speaker, is highlighted. “Oh, there’s a message from Ron”, I think and click on the folder to open it up. It’s a personal message that has a link in it. The link turns out to have two dots before the “com” instead of one, so I send Ron a message to tell him so and correct the link in my browsers address bar to get to the webpage that Ron wants me to see.

I go through the process on the web site and think it’s pretty cool. It contains two other links, which I open in new tabs. I take the time to check these new tabs out when suddenly I stop.

I look at my monitor and realise that I now have three tabs open that I have been browsing through, that have distracted me from what I had set out to do.

So after all that, by the time I got to pick a niche, it was 11.30 pm and I was knackered. I decided to buy the domain etc. on the Sunday, which I did.
